Talley Family Lineage

John Talley, b. ~ 1600 in England, d. ~ 1660, Jamestown VA; Spouse unknown

Note: John Talley came from England to Jamestown VA in 1630 with his wife and three sons (whose names are not recorded).  One son stayed in Virginia, one moved to Georgia, and one moved to Tennessee.

Researchers Note: Several sources give his occupation as Methodist Minister. HOWEVER, since the first Methodist missionary did not arrive in America until 1750, this is an error.  While several of his descendants did become Methodist preachers (Joseph Tarpley Talley and James Swept Tally), John would have had to have been a member of the Anglican Church to be allowed to come to Jamestown.
