(Although he did not choose to discuss his military career, James served during World War II in the 31st Infantry Division, The Dixie Division, which received many honors and citations for campaigns in New Guinea and the Philippines.)

Note: His address in May 1945, as given on marriage application, was Box 102, Enid, MS.

Note:  On the application for the marriage license, Sybils age is given as 18. At that time, women under 18 were required to have parental permission to marry.  By falsifying her age, she was able to obtain the license without a parent signing for her.  In reality, she was only 15 years, 8 months old.  Her stated address at the time of the marriage was Route 1, Sledge, MS.
