Council of Elders

Composition

All Matriarchs and Patriarchs are ex officio members of the Council of Elders. The Council, by majority vote, may invite other Church members and clergy to join for a fixed or indefinite term, provided such additional members make up 1/3 or less of the total Council membership.

Role

The Council of Elders is the senior advisory and consultative committee within the Church. Its responsibilities are:

  • to provide advice and guidance to the Church;
  • to discuss, debate and recommend appropriate policies for the Church;
  • to identify and recommend worthy Bishops for elevation;
  • such other duties and tasks as the Church may from time to time assign.
